Description;
Large weed that has large hooked burrs
Character; Root/Leaves: cool drying, bitter, root is slightly       sweet. Seeds: cold pungent, bitter
Constitutes; Root/Leaves: glycosides, flavonoids,
                           tannins, volatile oil, polyacetylenes, resin, mucilage, inulin,   alkaloids, essential oil Seeds: essential fatty acids, vitamins A, B

Actions;
Roots: alterative, mild laxative, diuretic,
                  promotes sweating, antirheumatic, antibiotic     Leaves: mild laxative, diuretic
                 Seeds: prevent fever, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, reduces blood sugar levels

Cultivation;
Harvest leaves before or during early flowering.                   Harvest the root in the fall.
Harvest the seeds in late summer

Parts Used;
Roots leaves, seeds
Applications and/or Uses; Root can be used for skin disorders, and more, Leaves can be used for indigestion also a mild
stimulant. Seeds can be used for
feverish colds with sore throat and cough
