Martial Arts is Losing The Fight ! Yep ! I heard talk of it in Hong Kong in 2005 and it was hard to realize then. This Head line is true, sad but this is true. Number one statement: I haven't got the time. Number two statement: That’s to difficult to understand . Number Three statement: I can’t do that. Most who do join any martial arts want trophies to show off to friends. I have never seen a trophy save a life. Tournaments are about the money it brings in to the local school. Tournaments are so specialized any more, you are not sure what you are watching any more. To me the power tournaments are a joke, you have to have a routine which set to music. You need to have assistants to help you look good. Its about looks and money for your school. I was talking to friend about a year ago. On the East coast the martial school are trying to hold it together by allowing the students one hour of homework help so they can get them into the martial arts school. This is truly sad. I have seen seven martial arts school go down in two years because they could not hold enough students to pay the bills of the school. I have called a several of schools here in Colorado. The average cost to the parents is about $300.00 before the kid even gets to learn anything. Plus they sign a contract for one to two years. Usually these kids are under 10 and do not know what they are getting into, let alone the parents. Most good students usually start to understand the commitment of martial arts, are around the age of 10 to 12 years of age. I believe any thing before that age, you are wasting your money. I have seen it too many times in my own classes. Maybe one out of 1000 students will actually learn something before the age of ten. ( very rare indeed ) Those few who have an inner desire to become some one in life are fading fast. If you do not have a child that is motivated on there own, they are truly lost to this world, Most parents say they help there child, but it has become rare now days. Kids are on there own and they know it. Truth is, the young population of the world only want to playing video games or do nothing. They do not know how to actually do something on there own. If there is no motivation from their parents. The only thing that amounts to any thing now days is video games and money. It’s easier for the parents to work hard and turn around and give it to the kids, so that the kids do not have to work for anything. Our school ( all levels ) are teaching politics in ever class room, instead of what they are suppose to be learning. Kids are learning to follow the new trend of shut up and sit still, be bored and learn nothing. Truly life in American has changed. Let someone else do it for me. The second truth is this idea is spreading world wide. Sifu Howard Unrein God Bless |
